Yesterday we moved from our first hotel to Nekohouse in Koenji. If you don't know about Nekohouse, check http://www.nekotalo.com/. This 64m² apartment feels pretty big after the small hotel room, especially for only 2 people.

Yesterday I also bought some anime stuff, t shirt and a wall scroll...I know I shouldn't buy those things, I already have more t shirts than I can use and no space for wall scrolls.. but I really wanted those. But overall my shopping has calmed down a lot since last year, which is a good thing I guess. Of course I've been here only 1 week, so who knows how much stuff I actually end up getting. I found the headphone amplifier that I've been looking for, buying it will set me back 78,000 yen or about 600€.

So on our first evening in Koenji we went to the "rock bar", just a small local bar where we have been drinking a lot on our past trips. I told the owner last year that we would come again this year, of course he was still a bit surprised when we showed up. The place was almost full, just enough room for us 2 to sit, but we had a great time there and will be going again for sure.

We went to see Ueno park, which is a pretty well known tourist spot I guess, there are some attractions such as museums, temples and some old buildings... We just walked around and took some pictures, I guess I'm just not interested in that cultural stuff, watching people feeding birds was a lot more interesting. I couldn't get any good pics of the birds though.

Then there was this giant lotus pond, which at first didn't seem like a pond at all, but a closer look revealed the water.

After that we went to check Takeshita street in Harajuku, which I've seen many times already, so I didn't bother to take any pictures there.

Then on our way to hotel I bought a pair of new shoes, I guess I'm just going to get rid of the old ones, since they would take too much space in my bag, they are old and dirty anyway.

In the evening we went to Mogra to drink few beers, only a few people there, since it wasnt a weekend.

Today I finally got something from Akihabara, not much, but a couple of games from the "Super potato" retro game shop. Also I got one t shirt from a crane machine. We then went to eat noodles and then back to our hotel to get ready for the evening.

So we got out of the hotel, ready to get drunk, when we met this random Japanese guy, who spotted us on the street and came to chat. Using my broken Japanese and some English we managed to communicate somehow, he wanted to show us some good place to drink and eat, so we followed him. We ended up in a some kind of standing bar, no seats, just a couple of tables. The guy bought some food and beer for us and then we just ate, drank and tried to communicate to the best of our ability. I had a 10 euro bill, so I showed it to the people and they tried to talk something about the euro crisis, but the language barrier was really too high...

So, I'm back in Japan and back to writing this blog, we arrived here yesterday and are currently staying in a hotel in Higashi-Ueno. We had decided that we would go out on the first night, so we bought some beers before arriving to the hotel, then after checking in we went to sleep for for a few hours. We woke up, still a bit tired, drank the beers and some energy drink and headed out.

We went to a club called Mogra, which I've been to many times on my previous trips, they play anime and video game music there, so it's a really cool place, even though I don't normally enjoy clubbing. We stayed there till morning and then walked to our hotel which is only about 1,5km from the club. I guess we drank quite a bit, as I don't remember much from the morning, but anyway, we got back to our hotel safely. After waking up I had a bad hangover, so no alcohol today. After recovering from the hangover, we went to buy some clothes. No anime shopping yet, but that will come for sure.

Near our hotel we spotted a Finnish language school.
